Real Madrid 2 Valencia 0 - Real continue title surge as Cristiano Ronaldo scores and proves decisive

Real Madrid continued their push for the La Liga title by winning against Valencia tonight in style, by two goals to nil.

The goals came from the usual suspects; first Gonzalo Higuain and then Cristiano Ronaldo. Both players have been in magnificent form this season scoring over 20 goals each.

The first goal was scored on the 25th minute and showcased Higuain's supreme talent. Receiving the ball, he made a run which completely deceived the defender, a change of pace that nobody had anticipated. He tucked the ball away calmly one-on-one with the goalkeeper to give Madrid a deserved lead.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a great game and got his reward in the second half in the 78th minute, this after having picked up a yellow card earlier on. Marcelo made a great run, beating one defender on the wing. He cut a precise ball back to Ronaldo who fired in first touch from 10 yards. It was the end of a great play and was the decisive goal, giving Real an unassailable lead.

Real Madrid are now just one point behind Barcelona as the race for the La Liga title nears its finale.
