Real Madrid overcame arch-rivals Atletico Madrid in an action-packed Madrid derby which saw Real come from behind to take all three points.

Cristiano Ronaldo was in good form, causing problems to the Atletico defense throughout. He didn't get on the scoresheet in today's match, however.

Atletico took the lead through a nicely worked goal, scored by Jose Antonio Reyes. They took the goal lead into the half time interval, but Real put in a convincing second half display.

Their goals came from Xabi Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa and Gonzalo Higuain. Atletico scored a penalty in the closing stages which was converted by Diego Forlan.

It was another important three points for Real Madrid in their quest for the La Liga title who once again take pole position. The all-important clash with Barcelona is fast approaching and will be played on the 11th of April.
