Cristiano Ronaldo played another terrific game for Real Madrid who came from behind to claim another vital three points to keep Los Blancos top of La Liga.
Sporting Gijon gave Real Madrid a big scare, scoring an audacious goal early in the second half. The goal was scored by Barral who found himself in a great position in the Real Madrid penalty area. Barral brought the ball inside and struck the ball terrifically into the roof of the net, leaving Iker Casillas with no chance.
Real Madrid responded fantastically. They won a free kick in a dangerous position just two minutes later. Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up and struck a ferocious shot that stung the hands of the Sporting goalkeeper. He parried it into the centre of the box where van der Vaart controlled the ball and struck into the corner of the net.
Real went one better by taking the lead another two minutes later in the 57th minute. The ball was sent into the center and was met strongly by the head of Ronaldo. As the ball flew towards the corner, Xabi Alonso helped the ball on its way, nodding home at the far post.
On the 68th minute, it was top scorer Gonzalo Higuain who scored Real's third. Collecting the ball 40 yards from goal, Higuain dribbled in a Lionel Messi-esque style and curled a terrific 18 yard shot beyond the goalkeeper.
