Real Madrid 3 Sevilla 2 - Cristiano Ronaldo inspires another impressive last-gasp win to send Los Blancos top of La Liga

Real Madrid once again defeated the odds to come back from two goals down to beat Sevilla by three goals to two, thanks largely to a fantastic performance from star-player Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sevilla started the brighter of the two sides. They too were rewarded for their early energy. Following a great cross from the flank, former Los Blancos targetman Negredo converted in the 9th minute to take the visitors into the lead. Negredo reacted quickest to the cross and steered it past Casillas emphatically.

Real Madrid came back strongly and had several opportunities to equalise, but failed to capitalise on the opportunities.

Dragutinovic put Sevilla another goal up just after half time. His free kick was completely missed by every attacking player but somehow ended up in the corner of Casillas' goal. It will go down as an error from Iker Casillas who wasn't able to be decisive enough in claiming the ball.

Real Madrid's players knew that something major had to be done to overturn the two goal deficit. They didn't disappoint and produced some sublime football in the second half.

On the hour mark, it was that man Cristiano Ronaldo who put Real Madrid back into contention. A deflected Marcelo cross found its way to the center. Cristiano made no mistake from 8 yards out, whacking the ball into the middle of the goal with ease.

Just four minutes later, remarkably Real Madrid were level. A fantastic Van der Vaart corner landed on the head of Sergio Ramos. The former Sevilla man nodded the ball down and into the corner of the goal with precision to equalise.

That was not all. In injury time, Real Madrid struck again. Gonzalo Higuain's header could only be parried by Palop. The loose ball fell to Dutchman Van der Vaart who tapped the ball in with his trailing leg. It was a dramatic finale and one that left the home faithful in raptures.

Cristiano Ronaldo was once again the inspiration behind Real Madrid's victory and following Barcelona's 2-2 draw with Almeria, the win put Real Madrid top of La Liga.
