Real Madrid were defeated 2-1 by Sevilla ending their winning streak of five La Liga games.
The team was almost at full strength, but missing one key attacking ingredient -- that being their main man, Cristiano Ronaldo, out due to an injury picked up against Marseille in mid-week.
Sevilla looked lively from the opening and inevitably took the lead early on through Jesus Navas - a well-worked build and up and a well met header.
Real Madrid came out stronger in the second-half and equalised through a headed goal by Ronaldo's compatriot, Pepe.
However, it was Sevilla who took all three points, thanks to a 65th minute Renato goal, once again a header.
Real Madrid had good spells during the game, but lacked the cutting edge and attacking pace provided by Ronaldo. Cristiano will now prepare for national team action as Portugal face two upcoming must-win World Cup qualifying games.
